San Mateo Homecoming Event
The San Mateo Host Committee
invites you to an October 2
Homecoming Reception
Honoring Tom Torlakson
Dear Friend:
We hope you can join us to celebrate State Superintendent of Public Instruction candidate Tom Torlakson's San Mateo Homecoming on Saturday, October 2!
Tom, the leading candidate to improve California schools, is returning to his roots--his home communities. He grew up in San Francisco and Daly City. He benefited from an excellent public school education: including Westmoor High School, College of San Mateo, and the University of California, Berkeley (BA 1971, Life Secondary Teaching Credential 1972, and MA in education 1977).
While at Westmoor High School, Tom was a league champion in cross country twice, was named the "Most Outstanding Social Studies Student," and was the student body Vice President. He's looking forward to returning to his home area!
Since then, Tom taught high school science, health, and ecology for ten years; coached cross country and track for 25 years (including 12 championship teams); and currently teaches at Los Medanos Community College. He won election to the Antioch City Council, Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, State Assembly, and State Senate.
Tom is now running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction because he wants to take what he learned as a teacher and policymaker and use his experience to fight for our kids and restore our state's public education system to its rightful place among the top ranks of the nation.
There are now only 63 days to go before the November 2 run-off election. Your support now will help Tom have the resources required to share his education message with voters throughout California.
So please join Tom at his San Mateo County Homecoming Event in Burlingame on Saturday, October 2! Click here to purchase your event tickets on-line. If you are unable to make it, you can also make a contribution to support Tom's campaign outreach efforts before the election.
