2006 Election Update
Dear Friend:
As election day nears, I have been asked by many people to explain what I think about the closely contested statewide election contests and propositions. If you have not voted yet, I hope you will make sure to get to the polls on Tuesday, November 7. Elections are important, and I urge you to participate!

Education Legislation Update (March 29, 2006)
I
wanted to take this opportunity to update you about my priorities and
my education agenda for this legislative session. I believe this will
prove a productive year for education policy.
Vote “Yes” On March 2 To Invest in California’s Future
On March 2, California voters will go to the polls with an opportunity to make several important decisions that will have a major impact on the future of our great state.
Vote Yes on Proposition 55: The Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 2004
As a former teacher and coach, education has always been one of my priorities. I am committed to helping provide California with the best public education system in the country. We should not be average—we should be the best! That is why I urge you to support Proposition 55.
Vote Yes on Proposition 56: The Budget Accountability Act
California’s budget process is broken. The State Legislature has failed to meet the June 15 constitutional deadline to pass a budget each year since 1986. It has been late 22 of the past 26 years!
Vote Yes on Propositions 57 and 58: The Economic Recovery Bond Act (57) and The California Balanced Budget Act (58)
Californians are understandably concerned and angry about the ongoing state budget crisis. One of the messages I took from the October recall election was that voters wanted the State Legislature and the Governor to find ways to work together on issues important to the voters of this great state.
Vote Yes on Regional Measure 2: The Regional Traffic Relief Plan
Throughout my career in public service, I have been a strong supporter of improving transportation funding and building better highway and public transit systems for Contra Costa County and the Bay Area.
