SACRAMENTO - Joining a growing coalition of parents, school employees and administrators, the California Teachers Association has formally endorsed State Superintendent Tom Torlakson for re-election.
"Every day, California's teachers give the very best of themselves to help our children achieve their dreams. As a teacher, it is heartening to have the support of my colleagues in the classroom, both in the campaign ahead and in the challenging work we are doing to make sure all students receive the world-class education they deserve," Torlakson said.
Torlakson was elected in 2010 and plans to seek a second four-year term as State Superintendent of Public Instruction this year. A second-generation public school teacher, Torlakson puts his classroom experience and his background as a champion high-school coach and education leader to work every day to help all California children succeed.
