As a teacher I know that when children miss school I can't help them learn.
That's why I have been working with Attorney General Kamala Harris to help bring more attention to student truancy.
Earlier this week I joined the Attorney General and Legislators to highlight the problem and discuss potential solutions.
A lost school day is a lost opportunity for our students to learn. We cannot afford these losses. We must do more to ensure our students are in the classroom and ready to learn.
I am excited by the growing attention being paid to truancy and chronic absenteeism by Attorney General Harris, parents, education leaders, legislators, and the public. Together we can create solutions.
I'm going to need your help to have the opportunity to continue working on vital issues like this. Can you make a donation of $4 or more today to help my campaign to continue such efforts?
I've enjoyed having this opportunity to develop solutions and offer ideas and assistance to our schools. We have more work to do. That's one of the reasons I am thankful leaders like Attorney General Harris are making truancy a top priority.
P.S. I am having a reception on Saturday, March 15, in Contra Costa County. Please purchase a ticket now by clicking here. I'd love to share more details with you in person about all of the work we are doing to help our students!
