Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell Endorsement

I am honored to be able to announce to you that today I received the endorsement of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell in the race to succeed him after he terms out of office at the end of the year.

I am so pleased to have Jack O'Connell's support as the campaign enters the final 12 days before the June 8 election! Please share this news with your friends and networks of contacts. We know more people are voting every single day.

Superintendent O'Connell was very generous in his remarks announcing his endorsement decision. He said:

"I proudly endorse Tom Torlakson to be California's next Superintendent of Public Instruction. As a teacher and education reformer in the legislature, Tom has demonstrated the energy, creativity, experience, and passion to put children first.

Tom will continue the fight to reform our school system. He is a proven coalition builder, and someone I know will bring people together to improve our schools. On June 8th, I urge all Californians to cast a vote for our kids' future by voting for Tom Torlakson for Superintendent of Public Instruction."

Superintendent O'Connell has done much during his time as State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Under his leadership, we have increased student achievement during a time when our education system has suffered from deep budget cuts. I will work hard to build on his legacy of success.

With this endorsement, I have now received the support of the two most recent State Superintendents of Public Instruction. As you may remember, Delaine Eastin endorsed me at my campaign kickoff. I am honored to have their support -- and to have their endorsements be included in the great coalition we've built of individuals and organizations representing nearly three million Californians from all across the state.

In the last days of this campaign, I need your help to let California voters know about my agenda and commitment to fight to ensure parents can send their children to a safe, high-quality school in their own neighborhood. Please spread the word or make a donation to support my campaign's outreach plans during these last 12 days.
