SACRAMENTO - A teacher and life-long supporter of a woman's right to choose, State Schools Superintendent Tom Torlakson has been endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice California's PrivacyPAC.
"Tom Torlakson has proven his strong commitment to California women, children and teenagers," said Amy Everitt, state director of NARAL Pro-Choice California. "As a former teacher and superintendent, he advocated for sex education in schools and has consistently voted in favor of pro-woman, pro-choice legislation."
Torlakson welcomed the support of one of the state's leading pro-choice organizations, and pledged to continue his work to be sure California's students receive age-appropriate, comprehensive and scientifically accurate information so they can make responsible choices about their health and their futures.
A second-generation public school teacher, Torlakson is seeking a second term as State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Torlakson uses his classroom experience to make schools safer, help more students graduate with real-world skills, and put more decision-making over education dollars in the hands in the hands of parents, teachers and communities.
